Celebrating the Establishment of the Gerald B. Sinykin , M.D. Endowed Chair in Family Medicine.

Irvine, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2006) – Seldom do we have the opportunity to witness the emergence of a new field of medicine as it unfolds in the life and work of a single individual. Dr. Gerald Sinykin's pioneering work in family medicine, occupational medicine and public health lay the foundation for much of what is regarded as best practices in primary care and community health today. Since he arrived in Newport Beach in 1955, Dr Sinykin has served Orange County as an innovative educator, a gifted administrator, a generous volunteer and a community leader, and above all, as a caring physician.

The Gerald B. Sinykin Chair in Family Medicine at the UC Irvine College of Medicine honors Dr. Sinykin's tremendous contributions to the health and well-being of the Orange County community.
