OUR PHILOSOPHY

No Foundation can address the significant health issues facing our community alone, or realize success within a short time frame. Today, smart, responsible grantmaking requires strategic thinking, working together and looking ahead for the long term.

It was with this in mind that the Foundation's Board of Directors recently decided to clarify our grantmaking strategies and policies.

Our mission – to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of all Orange County residents – has not changed.

Our new policies will, in fact, help further that mission by focusing our grantmaking toward increased collaboration and two-way involvement.

Our grants fall into two main categories: Community and Focused grants. We only accept grant requests for Community grants, which are one-time, non-capital grants for up to $15,000. For more information please visit our "Apply for a Grant" page.

Nearly two-thirds of our annual grantmaking budget is dedicated toward our proactive "Focused" grants. These grants, which address one or more of our Priority Issues, include collaboration and partnerships with other foundations, governmental agencies, or other local and regional institutions.

Working together, the "multiplier effect" created by these grant programs – whether they come to us externally or are developed by the Irvine Health Foundation – will help change and improve health throughout the County.
